Operations Supervisor

General Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day fragrance compounding activities, including: scheduling, compounding, filtration, and filling, shipping and receiving to ensure maximum output at optimum efficiency and in compliance with good manufacturing practices, company policies and customer specifications.

Understanding of local, state and federal regulations and GMPs affecting the flavor and fragrance industry.

Reports to: Executive VP

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

  • Create/analyze the planning schedule to coincide with production orders and requirements.
  • Follow-up and check inventory of raw materials in order to launch timely requisition orders.
  • Supervise equipment settings in order to obtain an end product corresponding to the quality specifications and within the efficiency standards.
  • Quality, Planning , Customer Service and Purchasing interface.
  • Supervision of pack out area, raw material management and inventory control, and quarantine area.
  • Coordinate with QC to ensure that blending/compounding is completed as required per company and customer specifications.
  • Batch problem investigation/resolution, root cause analysis, and batch reconciliation.
  • Obtain required results from the team and organization of the entire process while mapping out areas for improvement, equipment upkeep and cleanliness.
  • Evaluate the performance of the department and make improvements as needed.
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices through SOPs, documentation, training and internal reviews of compounders.
  • Concentrate on housekeeping, efficiencies and training for the respective areas for SOP and cGMP compliance as well as exhibit, promote and enforce the highest standards of quality, safety and productivity in the area and in conjunction with the entire company.




Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A 2-year college degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience with 3 in supervision or a minimum of 5 years of blending/compounding management experience is preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Procedures and SOPs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of blending/compounding processes.
  • Excellent and effective supervisory skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, be able to motivate and influence others.
  • Think creatively and strategically.
  • Excellent judgment.
  • Ability to direct employees to properly complete tasks and maintain production levels.
  • Computer skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Requirements to Perform Job Responsibilities

  • Stand for hours at a time.
  • Walk around warehouse for hours at a time. 
  • Visual acuity to observe production operation and processes, safety and compliance.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Forklift certified.
